Nokia hires new head of APJ, targets growth

Won has worked for the vendor for over 10 years most recently as VP of market development

Nokia has named 20-year telco veteran Jao Won has its new head of Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) with responsibility for the vendor's networks business and operations across the region.

Based in Singapore, Won has worked for the vendor for over 10 years most recently as vice president of market development.

“Asia Pacific and Japan is an exciting market that is full of opportunities,” said Won. “I look forward to growing our footprint in this region while continuing to deliver innovative solutions that will help communications service providers become digital service providers, and enterprises to offer value-added products and services to their customers.

“Given the strength of our end-to-end portfolio and capabilities, Nokia is in a strong position to help our customers harness technology to accelerate their digital transformation journeys in the era of fourth Industrial Revolution and 5G."

Won previously held several key management across the organisation for the APJ region including in business development, pre-sales, sales, and country management, and is largely credited with establishing the vendor’s depth and reach across key regional markets.

Won officially took on the role effective 15 October.
