Bitdefender taps FireEye talent to strengthen regional channel

Terence Ng joins with over 25 years of sales and channel expertise

Bitdefender has appointed Terence Ng to lead regional business development efforts as director of business development of strategic partners and technology licensing across Asia Pacific (APAC).

Ng joins the vendor with over 25 years of sales and channel experience across the region, having worked for FireEye, Dell, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Sun Microsystems. He was most recently channel director of APJ at FireEye, a role which he held for over three years.

“There is a significant growth opportunity to identify, recruit and develop new technology licensing partners, who will help us deliver superior protection, detection and mitigation against cyber threats at the right price-point to government and businesses in APAC,” said Ng.

According to IDC, digital transformation-related activities are expected to contribute up to US$375.8 billion in spending this year in 2019 across APAC, growing at 17.4 per cent annually through 2022.

“This brings about a new breed of local technology and service providers leveraging 5G, cloud, AI, automation and IOT, with security baked-in," Ng added.

“We are excited to support these growths with our most advanced technologies including our industry leading advanced threat intelligence services, EDR, network sandbox analyser and network threat security analytics solutions, available as embedded and subscription-based model."

Recently, the vendor expanded opportunities for partners by revamping its managed service provider (MSP) program, helping service providers and resellers develop their business, extend services and simplify operational aspects.

The program also enhanced its incentive structure, while offering more opportunities for increased profitability, and accelerated return on investment.

In addition, the program will be added to the existing partner advantage network reselling channel program at the same time with the integrated channel program, meant to meet the needs of resellers who recently embraced managed services.

The appointment of Ng forms part of the vendor’s expansion plan in APAC, who will have responsibility for developing the firm’s strategic relationships with managed service providers, security specialists and security consulting companies.

“We look forward to leveraging our solid brand name and technological innovations to empower local capabilities and talents,” said Ng.

The vendor claims it supplies its end-to-end cyber security solutions and advanced threat protection to more than 500 million users across over 150 countries.
