ePLDT has unveiled plans to transform its first purpose-built data centre in the Philippines through a three-year agreement with Schneider Electric.
The partnership centres on VITRO Pasig, billed as the “pioneer data centre of the group", which still operates on a daily basis since launching in 2000.
As the facility approaches the 20-year mark, ePLDT has partnered with Schneider Electric to “holistically transform” the data centre through the addition of new and emerging technologies.
Specifically, the three-year transformation project will optimise VITRO Pasig’s support infrastructure facility in order to generate more power capacity, which will enable the facility to accommodate and host more application requirements from customers.
Furthermore, this will also aim to elevate the data centre’s operational and technological capabilities towards "world-class service excellence", strengthening ePLDT’s leadership position in the local data centre business.
“The strategic transformation initiative will not only improve VITRO Pasig’s physical infrastructure but more importantly innovate our data centre operations management,” said Dave Simon, CTO of ePLDT. “Beyond just a facility revamp, the project will optimise our current manpower to help us deliver even better and higher quality of data centre solutions and services.”
VITRO Pasig’s technical design will also be revamped to mirror ePLDT’s tier-3 data centre sites in Makati and Clark, Pampanga, alongside turning the location into an “efficient, environmentally sustainable, and digital-enabled” data centre.
According to Nerissa Ramos - COO of ePLDT - the digital solutions provider now holds the largest network of ten interconnected data centres in the country, with a combined capacity of over 9,000 racks and more than 85 megawatts of power.
“We are further enhancing the capabilities of our world-class VITRO data centre network primarily to cater to the growing needs and IT requirements of our valued customers,” Ramos added. “We at ePLDT are always in pursuit of bringing quality and unparalleled service offerings to ensure the business continuity and successful digital transformation of enterprises in the country.”
VITRO data centre offers colocation and connectivity services designed to offer data security and protection, data accessibility and disaster resiliency throughout its network.
“We would like to thank ePLDT for this partnership and would like to celebrate this important milestone of the group,” said Alexandre Vermot, country president of Schneider Electric Philippines. “We’re very excited to partner with an industry-leading organisation like ePLDT for the strategic transformation of their data centre.
“We are eager to see this whole digital transformation journey unfold through our Ecostruxure IT solutions.”
Headquartered in Makati City, ePLDT operates as a leading provider of digital business solutions in the Philippines, with expertise across cloud, cyber security, data centre solutions and managed services.
