Ingram Micro has promoted Diego Utge to the roles of executive vice president and group president of Asia Pacific.
Based in India, Utge will commence his role as of 1 January. He succeeded Mike Zilis, who was promoted to the roles of executive vice president and chief financial officer (CFO) and will also be commencing his role as of 1 January.
The opening was made available due to Zilis succeeding current CFO Gina Mastantuono, who will be moving onto a “US publicly-traded company”, according to a statement from Ingram Micro.
Prior to his promotion, Utge has been with Ingram Micro for the last 17 years. Currently, he is Ingram Micro’s senior vice president and chief executive officer for India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh from February 2018.
Before this, he was director in Brazil in 2011 and was responsible for the commercial and consumer markets division. He then worked his way up to vice president and Brazil chief executive officer until his appointment in 2018.
When he first joined the company in 2002, Utge was a finance manager in Ingram Micro’s Miami export division. He was here for nine years in a series of managerial roles until he was promoted to regional director for vendor management in 2011.
News of the appointment comes less than a month Ingram Micro moved to bolster its Cloud Marketplace with a feature aimed at helping partners prepare themselves for a vendor landscape increasingly dominated by as-a-service players.
The new addition, Instant Cloud Solutions, is aimed at resellers looking to transform their licensing business into an Infrastructure-as-a-Service revenue-generating model, with pre-architected, vetted and licensed cloud solutions that can be delivered to customers without the burden of defining, building or deploying.
