San Diego, California, 6th January 2010 – VIA Telecom, Inc, a leading innovator and developer of CDMA chipsets, today announced its participation in the Open Handset Alliance™ to enhance the mobile experience and extend the reach of 3G communications and entertainment into new markets.

VIA Telecom’s CDMA baseband processors are ideally suited to Android-based handsets, supporting high performance 3G EVDO data functionality within Android, providing a smoother connectivity experience for users. Android is becoming one of the key drivers of 3G adoption, and VIA Telecom chipsets implement the right blend of leading edge communications technologies to enable handset manufacturers to incorporate CDMA into their product line-ups quickly and very cost-effectively.
